American's. They Are Perfect, or Not!

My girlfriend tells me everyday " I'm fat, I need to work out longer, I cant go to cub without makeup on, I need a better job and car, these jeans make me look horrible."

I try to tell her she looks amazing and that she is beyond perfect in every way but, it doesn't work one bit.
America is so into stereotyping that no one can just be normal anymore. They must strive to be perfect. They show that in every magazine you need to work out more and eat better. If you complete this then you will have the perfect body. For girls and women they need flawless skin, nice body, perfect makeup and to be the object of sex appeal to every man. For men they need to look like they stepped right out of Abercrombie and be the slave to every women to make the perfect boyfriend. Well news flash America is getting fatter not skinner. The world better start accepting that magazines aren't people they are, Photoshop.
                                       Do you look like this?

Recently with the new news of KY's newest products on the market there have been a lot of new commercials. I watch a lot of MTV and VH1, or at least my girlfriend does. One of the most popular commercials is for some type of KY product. When I go to the store I've noticed that the commercials work because there is usually some lady in front of us buying some product of KY that has just come out. I wondered why it is so popular.

I decided to deconstruct the best of the KY commercials I have seen lately because I find it entertaining and interesting at the same time. Obviously it is working for the older people.
Bandwagon- if you use the KY gel too then you will be like them and have an amazing time.

  • Humor- they use the funny music and the guys dancing to be the amazing part but its really just funny.

  •  Intensity- The lady is all serious about how she was scared but then at the end it show s them all sprawled out like something intense had really happened.

  • Plain folks- shows that they are just "normal" people in their bedroom.

  • Fear- the wife was really scared to buy it and try it like most couples out there.

  • Testimonials- They had to try it to see if it really worked, and it did.

Childhood and TV

I remember getting off the bus and running down my long drive way to the house. I would run inside drop my backpack, rip off my shoes and bolt into my room. I then turned the TV on hurried into the kitchen got some fruit snacks and ran back into my room and slammed the door. I plopped my self right in front of my super small bulky TV only to enjoy and hour of cartoons before my parents came home.

This was my typical after school experience for the 11 years I was in school. I always watched TV after school and still watch it everyday after work. My TV was my best friend no matter what state of mind I was in. MY parents never really cared what I watched they would just come in see what I was doing and left. It was my thing and my time they didn't care. This has affected me now. I feel like the more vulguar a show is the better. Since I never was censored I grew up knowing a lot I probably shouldn't have for my age. Sometimes it got me in big trouble and sometimes I was just the smart kid.

TV affects every child no matter what they watch, when they watch it or how. If it is censored or not it is still going to have some impact on the child's life believe it or not. I believe that censoring up to a certain age is reasonable but then you have to realize that what they are hearing out in the world or school is probably ten times worse than the television.

TV Ratings

I have always had a television in my bedroom since I can remember. It seemed to be my parents way of shutting me up and putting me to sleep. My girlfriend also has a television in her bedroom and every night when we try go to to sleep she says she needs the TV on to fall asleep. It's rather sad that it has come to the fact that no one needs a night light to fall asleep anymore they need the light and noise of the television. I believe that we have a epidemic with television in the bedrooms. Pretty soon the cause of obesity and health problems aren't going to be based on "can health problems in your family" but "how many hours do you watch TV, do you have a TV in your bedroom?". Its sad  but its becoming a reality.
I really don't believe to strongly in the TV ratings either because they seem like they are no help. Sure I see them when i turn on the television but I don't ever think anything of them. Just because I see a L in the little corner of my TV I'm not going to say
"OH MY! bad language got to change the channel right now!"
Guaranteed no body really pays attention to them anyway they are just annoying and get in the way of what you can see.

Your Vote

In 2008 I wasn't old enough to vote for the president of the United States, but to be completely honest I could care less about who won. I lived in a town of 3,000 people I know our votes weren't going to count for anything. I also had no idea who to choose for it was all a bigger race between the "black guy" and the "war hero". They  both wanted change, but for what? I didn't know. I feel like people never really know who they are voting for since in the commercials and ads they produce that they are perfect and the other is horrible. Its just a battle of who has more money and knows how to dis a person more. I believe it is important to vote if you know the facts, and what you want. But if your going to just stand there and fill in A B C D like you would on your english  test, just stay out of the count.

Character

I believe that media and television affects our voting way to much. No body seems to really care anymore what is going on in real politics it just matters how a person looks. If they look old they seem to be too worn out. If they are more tan mabye a different race they wont fit. Their daughter is pregnant? no way not happening. It seems as though we need a picture perfect president and not an all problem solving ready one. I believe that the television has forever doomed how we will vote or even look at normal people again.

if you are pretty, then get off the stage.

Downloading Music

I don't think that there is any problem with downloading music. Yes it is free but it saves my money. I cannot afford to go out and buy a whole CD when all I want is one or two songs off the whole album. I think if they could establish Itunes where you can pay for only one song there wouldn't be such a problem. With the economy tanking i believe that downloading free music is the only way most people can afford to have music anymore

teenage music

Sex, drugs and rock and roll ruled my parents life as teenagers. Wild hair and spandex was the amazing hit but not for me. The poster artist for my teenage years of music would be a man of tattoos and swear words. If not a man it would be a woman with shadow eye make up a wild outfit and a glamor smile. This was the portal into a whole new generation.
As a teenager I started listening to hard rock for my early teenage years. Screaming yelling and loud drums was all that matter. Towards the middle of my teenage years I made a complete switch! I started to listen to rap music. The famous Lil Wayne and Gucci Mane ruled my Ipod. I would sit in my car and just blast the music. The bass would bounce my windows and break my speakers.
Rap music was a complete switch from the high pitch screaming and the sharp drums. The music was all about extreme bass and swift rapping. The words were spit out so fast that you could barely understand them. I had to listen to a song three or four times to even understand what it was saying. All i cared about was to sit in my car and feel the bass pound through the seat into my back.
The music was the best of every hang out night and random road trips. We would sit and all have a certain part that we would sing, or attempt to sing. We would sit and blast the music thinking it made us look so cool. I lost a lot of friends as a teenager and for everyone they got there favorite song dedicated to them.
It seems like every parent grows up gets old and hates who they were when they were a kid. For me though, I know that those loud beats and crazy nights will always stick. No matter how crazy my kids will get with their music I know they are always going to have fun.
